I am Jules, and I am one of the people helped by Purple Shoots. As I struggled over the years with very real barriers to traditional employment, it seemed that the only way to continue to be economically active and not doomed to a sentence on benefits, was via enterprise; I had never experienced these barriers before becoming a single parent, and had enjoyed full-time employment and social acceptance for 20 years before needing flexibility aged 36; my story is a long one, but as I grew, returned to tax payer status, escaped benefits, and helped my own community, Purple Shoots were the footprints in the sand, we now have a long and steady history, and I have witnessed as they have helped so many like me, just as I have witnessed the frustrations of their own exclusion due to their choice of people to help.

It is my turn to give back, and Project ‘100 Angels’ is a philanthropic project, as I am dedicated to helping Purple Shoots raise the funds that they need to sustain, grow, and fly. They gave me wings, they have given so many wings, they have helped so many families with the help of their donors, but now it is time to find our own angels. We know that you are out there. These pictures were taken between 2019 and 2024, as I ran the Single Mums Business Network, hosted events, and attended events hosted and supported by Purple Shoots and other like-minded organisations.
